Emix is free and open-source software. This page lists its license, the copyright notices of the software it is built on, and where to get the complete source code.

License

Emix is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 (AGPL-3.0-only). You may use, study, share and modify it under the terms of that license. The full license text is in the LICENSE file.

Source code

The complete corresponding source code of Emix, including the web app, server, desktop app and our deployment configuration, is publicly available:

Each release is tagged in the repository. The exact version running on the Emix service is shown in the app under User Settings, with a link to its source.

Attribution

Emix is a modified version of Backspace.

Emix's changes are described in EMIX.md and in the repository history. The Backspace name and logos belong to their owner and are not used as Emix branding. Emix is an independent project and is not endorsed by the Backspace project.

Third-party software

Emix includes third-party components, each under its own license. These include the DM Sans and Inter typefaces (SIL Open Font License 1.1) and the open-source libraries listed in the repository. The complete list of notices is in the NOTICE file.

Emix is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See sections 15 and 16 of the GNU Affero General Public License for details.
